Mexican Hot Chocolate Gift Set
Curated by THE ARTESANAL
A traditional Mexican hot chocolate gift set, including a molinilllo (for whisking), Mexican cacao (blended with sugar and cinnamon), and an extra-large Oaxacan black clay mug.
Mexican hot chocolate is a ubiquitous, and special, beverage in México. It is a drink that has been enjoyed for thousands of year, traced back to the Aztec and Mayan eras. The origin of the word chocolate comes from xocolatl, from the ancient Aztec language, Náhuatl. The traditional recipe, enjoyed by the Aztecs, Mayans and other indigenous communities, was a combination of cacao and vanilla (as an energizing drink).
Presented in a gift box finished with a ribbon, ready for gifting. If a handwritten note is desired, please include the gift message text during checkout.
Each gift box contains:
Bag of wrapped Mexican cacao. Made in the "huasteca" region of Hidalgo, México, artisanal chunks of solid cacao sweetened with sugar and a pinch of cinnamon. Strong, spicy aroma with semi-bitter, sweet and smoky flavors. Ideal for making milk or water based hot chocolate (simply add chunks to hot water or milk). Organically produced and grown by artisanal, small batch farmers. Roasted on a clay comal and ground on a hot basalt stone. 200 gr., made for Lo Selecto and imported by The Artesanal.
Traditional Molinillo Whisk. A Mexican wooden whisk that's used to mix and add froth to a Mexican hot chocolate. Roll the shaft between your palms to whisk, mix and foam the chocolate. But don't limit yourself to hot chocolate - the whisk works great for any kind of liquid mixing. Handcrafted in Puebla, México with reclaimed wood scraps.
Oaxacan Black Clay Mug. An extra-large black clay (barro negro) mug featuring a face carving on the front - a playful, unique design very specific to Oaxaca. This mug holds a generous 16 fl. oz., and is large enough to whisk the hot chocolate (using the molinillo) directly inside. No need for extra dishes.
