Talavera Style Serving Tray - Black
HANDCRAFTED IN GUANAJUATO
Intricately hand-painted and glazed Majolica earthenware made by a family in the colonial highlands of Mexico. A strikingly beautiful serving tray in fresh, modern colors. Perfect for serving dishes or appetizers, and also looks beautiful styled on a coffee table with a candle or vase of flowers.
This decorative type of pottery was introduced to Mexico by the Spanish in the early 16th century and is a mix of indigenous tradition, Spanish influence, and local adaptation. The process of creating these pieces is elaborate and can take days, weeks and even months, depending on the item. Locally sourced clay is shaped on a potters wheel, then hand-painted using a glaze dyed with all-natural pigments.
Dimensions: 8"H x 14"W
Materials: Terracotta clay and naturally-dyed glaze (100% lead-free)
Care: This piece cannot be used in the microwave or dishwasher. Handwash gently with soap and towel dry.
